Filmmakers are buzzing about the Louisiana Film Prize It's open to all filmmakers. The only rule is the films must be shot in Shreveport. Filmmaker Gregory Kallenberg is the creator of the contest.

I went to the Robinson Film Center last Thursday to hear the details of the contest. I was a little disappointed that no category for documentary was announced. The real stuff is my passion. I'm taking a couple of days to see if I want to pursue a project. A short narrative film between 5 and 15 minutes sounds easy enough. Except I have very limited work in the area of moving pictures. Years and years of work in still photography and audio and writing so I"m maybe three quarters of the way there. Maybe.

Interested in winning $50,000? See the above link to the LFP website or you can visit the Facebook page. Or watch LFP's Chris Lyon  in a short piece of video I shot at the Robinson Film Center on the day of the LFP launch. He explains how easy it is to get involved. Video shot on iPhone 4S with Flare HDR app.

More information on making movies in Shreveport can be found at the Shreveport-Bossier Film Assistance website.
